Toyota Industries Corporation (TICO) has once again been ranked as the world leader in materials handling by two leading industry publications.
The global leader since 2001, TICO topped the world ranking lists published in late 2008 by German magazines Logistik Journal and DHF. The ranking was based on TICO’s results for the fiscal year ending 31 March 2008. During this period, TICO reported turnover amounting to more than €4.8 billion for its global materials handling operations.*
In addition to the rankings by DHF and Logistik Journal, TICO was number 31 in Fortune Magazine’s 2008 list of the world’s 50 most admired companies and number 479 in the 2008 Fortune Global 500 list of the world’s largest corporations. TICO’s total net sales in fiscal year 2008 exceeded €12.3 billion for its five business divisions – Automobile, Logistics, Textile Machinery and ‘Others’ – as well as Materials Handling Equipment.
TICO’s materials handling division – Toyota Material Handling Group (TMHG) – has five regional organisations covering Japan, China, North America, Europe and International. It is market leader in Japan and North America as well as globally with more than 20% global market share.
Representing TMHG in Europe, Toyota Material Handling Europe (TMHE) is active in more than 30 countries and offers customers in most European markets one point of contact for both Toyota counterbalanced forklifts and BT warehouse equipment.
Commenting on the world ranking, TMHE President Håkan Dahllöf said: “As part of the world leader in materials handling, Toyota Material Handling Europe has the resources and expertise to offer our customers leading-edge products, services and solutions that add value in today’s tough economy. In these challenging times, we are deeply committed to being a reliable business partner, both now and in the future.”
