Toyota Material Handling Europe launches Toyota Traigo HT

The all-new, high-performance Toyota Traigo HT from Toyota Material Handling Europe (TMHE) is designed to excel in its safety, productivity, durability and driveability. With three new heavy-duty models, Toyota Traigo HT means TMHE offers customers a complete electric forklift range with load capacities from 1.0–8.5 tons.

Toyota Traigo HT provides a heavy-duty electric alternative to engine-powered forklifts, with load capacities from 6.0–8.5 tons and lift heights up to 6.5 metres. Like other Toyota forklifts, Toyota Traigo HT has safety designed in from the ground up thanks to the world’s first active system for controlling forklift stability, the Toyota System of Active Stability (SAS).

SAS uses advanced technology to support safe operating practices, excellent productivity and lower costs related to accidents, injuries and damage to goods. In this way it addresses costs in two key areas – driver costs and damage costs – which collectively can account for more than 70% of the truck life cycle cost. SAS features include the SAS Active Mast Function, which helps reduce the risk of dropped loads and forward truck tip-over by limiting the mast tilt angle and tilting speed at height. SAS automatic speed reduction when cornering supports safe, productive operation by optimizing driving speed when taking corners.

Another driver-friendly SAS feature is the SAS Active Steering Synchronizer, which supports safe, efficient driving by continually aligning the steering wheel with the position of the wheels. By returning the steering knob to the most ergonomic ‘8 o’clock’ position after turns, the Active Steering Synchronizer enhances productivity and driveability for safe, productive handling all day long.

“Toyota SAS is more than just the world’s first active safety system for forklifts,” says Anthony Nadalin, TMHE Product Marketing Manager Counterbalanced. “In fact, all SAS functions work together to help keep your driver and goods safely on the move and your productivity on the up. Only Toyota trucks with SAS know how to drive down costs.”

Designed for top performance and productivity, Toyota Traigo HT delivers class-leading drive and lift speeds to move more goods in less time. Built on the Toyota AC2 power system, Toyota developed Traigo HT’s 80-volt motors and controllers together for full compatibility, maximizing both performance and efficiency. Acceleration is smooth and rapid to the class-leading top speed of 16 km/h. Every time the truck decelerates or the brakes are applied, energy is regenerated and reused to extend the time the battery can serve before being recharged. Thanks Toyota AC2 and high-capacity 1250 Ah batteries, Traigo HT models can operate at peak effectiveness for longer, enhancing reliability and maximizing uptime.

Driveability and operator comfort has also been considered at all stages of Traigo HT’s development, resulting in an excellent truck/operator interface and low vibration – a key advantage of an electric truck. Toyota Traigo HT has a rugged exterior and a comfortable interior, making it a great place to work.

Produced at TMHE's ISO14001-certified factory in Bologna, Italy, the Toyota Traigo HT is designed and manufactured according to the renowned Toyota Production System (TPS). TPS ensures that quality is built in throughout the manufacturing process, providing superb durability and making Traigo HT an excellent long-term investment.

As a reliable business partner, TMHE is committed to developing and delivering environmentally friendly and economically viable materials handling solutions that respect present and future energy needs. TMHE strives to reduce environmental impact throughout the product life cycle, from design, manufacturing and operation through to recycling at end-of-life. Toyota Traigo HT is emissions-free in use, providing an electric alternative to diesel and LPG-powered trucks in heavy-duty applications.

“More than ever, today’s businesses are looking for forklift trucks from manufacturers and brands they can trust,” says Anthony Nadalin. “Toyota Material Handling Europe is committed to being a full-range supplier as well as a reliable business partner. By expanding our popular Toyota Traigo range with three new high-tonnage models, we can offer customers additional selection when choosing heavy duty forklifts.”

The Toyota Traigo electric range now comprises 24-volt models (Toyota Traigo 24), 48-volt models (Toyota Traigo 48) and 80-volt models (Toyota Traigo HT).
