Environment

At Toyota Material Handling Europe, we
believe environmental responsibility is a
cornerstone of good business practices. We think that pursuing environmental excellence and business success and profitability are complementary goals.

The Earth Charter

The Toyota organisation operates under a global ‘Earth Charter’ promoting environmental responsibility wherever we do business. Our long-term efforts to reduce global warming and pollution include initiatives for waste-free production, extended product life and end-of-life recycling. These initiatives are combined with a far-reaching programme of social commitment.

Greener development

All Toyota and BT products are designed to minimise environmental impact during manufacturing, operation and at end-of-life. Our quest for growth in harmony with the environment is clearly demonstrated by our commitment to clean manufacturing processes and the creation of a recycling-oriented society.

ISO 14001

In January 2008 Toyota Ireland was accredited with ISO14001 certificatation, covering its range of activities from Material Handling Equipment to Motor Vehicle sales. and after sales

Every one of our products and services excels in terms of environmental protection and regeneration. Along with preventing pollution and other overt damage to the environment, we continually develop and enhance our production systems to preserve resources by using materials and energy efficiently.

Our production centres in France, Italy and Sweden have obtained ISO 14001 certification from an external agency. This helps ensure that all products are produced in an environmentally responsible way. Strict environmental standards are also required from each of our suppliers.

Fourth Environmental Action Plan
A critical challenge that we face is balancing environmental protection with our expanding business activities. To meet this challenge TMHE’s parent company, Toyota Industries Corporation, has launched a series of far-reaching Environmental Action Plans. The Fourth Environmental Action Plan outlines our intentions for fiscal years 2007-2011. It explains what we will do in a number of key areas.

Curbing Global Warming
We will strengthen the development and sale of environmentally friendly products to promote environmental action at the product use stage of the product life cycle, when the impact on the environment is greatest.

Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions
We will actively promote countermeasures to global warming, the most serious of the world’s environmental issues.

Improving Resource Productivity
We will promote the reduction of resource wastage, keeping in mind soaring raw materials costs caused by resource and energy problems.

Reducing Environmental Risk Factors
We will reduce environmental risks by enhancing management of chemical substances and curtailing emissions of substances of concern.

Global Environmental Management
We will keep in mind that, as production by Toyota Industries Group companies increases, the Group’s overall impact on the environment rises. We will strengthen consolidated environmental management, giving priority to curbing global warming, increasing resource productivity and the reduction of environmental risk factors.
